PARK YOUR ART @ McMartin Realty
March 8th, 2008 | 6-9pm | 21st & K in Midtown Sacramento
The weather is beautiful again, so March is our 2008 kickoff event. We'll be showcasing the talents of award-winning Sacramento artist Steve Memering who will be debuting his latest work capturing the beauty of the American River.
We'll also be featuring amazing art from the Smith Gallery, an acoustic performance by the beautiful and talented SAMMIE winning Larisa Bryski, and our popular outdoor art show brings you up close to the creations of more than a dozen great local artists and crafspeople and gives you an opportunity to own their one-of-a-kind handmade works!

We'll also be raising funds for ECOS, the Environmental Council of Sacramento, so come help us celebrate the coming of spring! This event is FREE to attend and is open to art-lovers of all ages. For more information or if you'd like to put your art or crafts on display for FREE, download an artist application or call McMartin Realty at (916) 447-1600.

Second Saturday PARK YOUR ART Artist Application & Guide

Becoming a PARK YOUR ART artist
McMartin Realty loves local artists. We've created our PARK YOUR ART Second Saturday events in our parking lot because we want to support local artists and craftspeople who might not otherwise have an opportunity to display their creations for the Second Saturday crowds... And we currently don't charge for the opportunity to display or sell your works.
If you'd like an opportunity to display and sell arts or crafts, you can download an application here and return it to McMartin Realty (2031 K Street) as early as possible. We will contact you to let you know we've received your application and to confirm your attendance. PLEASE NOTE: We have had a LOT of interest from artists and may not have room to accommodate all artists or to provide as much space as you would like. It is important that you RSVP in a timely fashion when we're requesting confirmation from artists.
Setting up for the event
Once you've been confirmed for the event, there are several things you need to know.
Setup begins at 4:30pm and goes to 5:30pm, but all vehicles MUST be out of the parking lot no later than 5pm. Artwalkers are out earlier and earlier all the time, so we encourage artists to be completely ready by 5:30pm. This is a community event and we aren't charging artists for the opportunity to participate, but we DO have some expectations. Please plan to either arrive 20 minutes early to help us with event setup or to stay 20 minutes late to help with breakdown and cleanup.
Artists should enter the parking lot from the alley off of 21st Street between K and J Streets. Parking is only TEMPORARY while artists are setting up. Vehicles must be moved out at the time specified (typically no later than 5pm). Please plan on parking on the street, and you may need to pay for parking until 6pm (meters currently stop metering at 6pm). Meters in the area accept change, bills, and cards. Be sure to place the parking sticker from the meter according to the sticker's directions. McMartin Realty will not be responsible for any artists' parking tickets or if vehicles are towed.
Because our event changes a little each month, it's very important that artists and craftspeople check in with McMartin Realty staff prior to ANY setup. Even if you've participated in the event in the past, you may not be in the same location and our layout may have changed to accommodate new and different displays or for a special event.
Artists must bring their own setup and display materials. This includes any tables, chairs, canopy, battery-powered lighting (such as flashlights), easels, or anything else needed for display purposes.
This is an evening event. McMartin Realty makes every effort to adequately light all artists and craftspeople, but we encourage artists to bring their own portable, battery-powered lighting, too. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT currently offer electrical outlets or power to artists. Please make sure anything you bring that needs power can run on batteries and that you have sufficient battery power.
This is an outdoor event in a city that has wonderful Delta breezes. This means that weather conditions can change frequently and artists must make sure that they have a way to weight down anything that might blow away. This includes paper materials, easels, tents, etc.
All artists must have a completed application on file with McMartin Realty. We encourage you to bring a friend or relative to help with setup, to hang out with you, and so that you can take breaks (food, restroom, to check out other artists) during the event. Any person who is helping in a booth must also complete and sign an application/waiver. You can download an application here.
Cleaning up after the event
We begin shutting down the event at 10pm which means we'll be turning off outdoor lighting, closing the office, and beginning physical cleanup.
We really need your help. This is a fun event because of the sense of community we all enjoy, so if you finish with your own cleanup please help us with ours. We are volunteering our time, energy, and resources to help make this a great event for you and we want to have fun, too.
